Poll: Americans Back Bush Generally

WASHINGTON (AP) Americans are still behind President Bush generally, polls suggest, but they have concerns about some of his policies and priorities.

("Americans Back Bush Generally"... Of course we will not have the benefit of knowing how these poll questions were phrased and whether or not the blanket coverage of certain subjects by the "Free Press" with a noted lean to the left have had any influence!  The "Free Press" is seething at the opportunity to report that the Bush approval rating has dipped under 50%!  When it happens, there will be a noted joy in the tone of the reporting of it, mark my words! - tha malcontent)

By a 2-1 margin in an ABC News-Washington Post poll, people said Bush cares more about protecting the interests of large corporations than of ordinary working people.

(I wonder where the American people would get that idea? - tha malcontent)

Nearly six in 10 approve of Bush's job performance, according to polls by ABC-Post and CNN-Time. The number who don't approve has increased by 10 points in the last month in the ABC-Post poll, to 33 percent.

(Some DemocRATS have apparently broke under the pressure from the "Free Press" and are now back on board with the DNC! - tha malcontent)

About half approved of the president's handling of the economy and environmental issues, with slightly more supporting his handling of international issues, the polls found.

Public enthusiasm for Bush's tax cut plans has not increased measurably in the last month, with just one-fifth of the public saying tax cuts should be top priority, according to the ABC-Post poll, released Monday. Two-fifths said spending on domestic programs like health care and education should be the priority, and more than a fifth, 24 percent, said Social Security.

(With about 3/3 of the coverage of Liberal issues having a positive spin and 0/3 of Conservative issues having that same positive spin, the "Free Press" is comfortable that it will have the Bush poll numbers under 50% by mid-summer, a source close to the "Free Press" said under the condition of anonymity! - tha malcontent)

In the ABC-Post poll, more than two-thirds said they thought current projections for a $5.6 trillion federal budget surplus over the next decade is unrealistic and would support a proposal to scale back tax cuts in future years if the surplus turns out to be lower than predicted.

(Where do these people in America get these ideas like a "trigger" on the tax cut?  As we know, the American people are very well read and in touch with the current issues!  They are not SHEEP who run to Dan Rather (D)  every night during dinner to become a little more indoctrinated by the Left!  No, American's are very informed and by no means collectively ignorant on most issues!  - tha malcontent)

The CNN-Time poll released over the weekend showed similar concerns about Bush's perceived attitude of favoring big businesses.

(A "perception" created by the "Free Press" just for this reason! - tha malcontent)

And six in 10 said they thought Bush's talk about the country heading into tough economic times may have affected the economy. Republicans, by a 2-1 margin, thought his comments had not affected the economy, while Democrats said they have, by a 3-1 margin. Six in 10 independents thought his comments have had an effect.

("Talking the economy down"... Let's see, where have I heard that line before?  I think it was on the Today Show, and ABCNews, and the Sunday programs and the news breaks on the radio.  Now who's been accusing the President of this and getting unlimited coverage to make the accusation?... well that would by Tom and DICK (D) over in the DemocRATS wing of Government!  Of course neither of them have raised a single concern about our economy, have they "Free Press"! - tha malcontent)

Six in 10 in the ABC-Post poll said they believe the economy is headed into a recession.

("Free Press", the American people are "talking the economy down"!  I'm teeeeliiiiing! - tha malcontent)

Bush has been traveling throughout the country pitching his tax cut plan, but the ABC-Post poll suggested that Americans have other ideas about the nation's top priorities. Keeping the economy strong and improving education were the most often mentioned, followed by protecting Social Security and the environment. That was followed by cutting taxes and reforming campaign finance laws.

(And what position is "reforming campaign finance laws" on the priority list?  I know it "follows" all of those other issues "Free Press", because it's dead last, right after Impeaching William the Liar again!  With all of the FREE coverage that The "Maverick" has received from the "Free Press", and all of the "soft-money" that he has spent fighting "soft-money", you would think that American people would have come around!  What's wrong with you people, get on board the "Straight Talk Express"! - tha malcontent)

The ABC-Post poll of 903 adults was taken Thursday through Sunday and the CNN-Time poll of 1,025 adults was taken Wednesday and Thursday. Both have error margins of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

(903 adults are the official pulse for 300 million people!  What a racket "Free Press"!  And people say tha malcontent "generalizes"! - tha malcontent)
