CNN News Executive Eason Jordan Quits

By DAVID BAUDER (Direct descendent of Joseph Stalin! - tha malcontent)
Associated Press Writer Feb 12, 8:22 AM EST

NEW YORK
(AP) CNN chief news executive Eason Jordan quit Friday amid a furor over remarks he made in Switzerland last month about journalists killed by the U.S. military in Iraq. Jordan said he was quitting to avoid CNN being "unfairly tarnished" by the controversy.

(ap) - It's funny how what Jordan (D) actually said just couldn't be found... Anywhere, yet he quits.  I just Love the, "I never meant to imply" excuse he attempts to use while quitting!  There is no doubt how the majority of main stream "Journalists" feel about this President and his 2nd War Front in the War on Terror, they have made it abundantly clear with their incessant Coverage of the 5% of bad that is going on in Iraq, while Ignoring, and almost Denying the 95% of good!  Their Predictions that the Iraq Elections would never get pulled off, was wrong, as was the prediction that going into Iraq in the first place would take from a half a million to a million troops, and cost us 10's of thousands of them in bloody door to door fighting before we ever took Saddam out...  Millions and millions of Iraqis Voted in Free Elections for the first time since a Brutal Dictator took over Decades ago, under 2 years after our Invasion, and the "Free Press" hardly took a breath on Election day before they started the, "Yeah, but" harping on the imperfections.  Since when has Perfection been the standard for virtually everything tied to our Government?... Oh yeah, since January 20th, 2001.  I hope the other Liberals in media are watching.  My Children in the Pajamahidin sure are, and you no longer have a Monopoly on the outlet of Information to "the People"... Just as the Founders intended!  First Rather (D), now Jordan (D)... Who's next? - tha malcontent)

During a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum last month, Jordan said he believed that several journalists who were killed by coalition forces in Iraq had been targeted.

(Get this... They can't find a transcript of the panel discussion!... Classic!  Something tells me it's because it's worse than it sounds as of today! - tha malcontent)

He quickly backed off the remarks, explaining that he meant to distinguish between journalists killed because they were in the wrong place when a bomb fell, for example, and those killed because they were shot at by American forces who mistook them for the enemy.

(Yeah, it depends on what the meaning of "is", is! - tha malcontent)

"I never meant to imply U.S. forces acted with ill intent when U.S. forces accidentally killed journalists, and I apologize to anyone who thought I said or believed otherwise," Jordan said in a memo to fellow staff members at CNN.

(Why not give us the transcript so we can compare to your current ASSertions, and you can clear Mr. Jordan (D)? - tha malcontent)

But the damage had been done, compounded by the fact that no transcript of his actual remarks has turned up. He was the target of an Internet and Web site campaign that was beginning to rival the one launched against CBS's Dan Rather following the network's ill-fated story last fall about President Bush's military service.

(SeeBS's "ill-fated story"... It was a story, and OLD story, a MEANINGLESS story, that Rather (D) and the rest of you in the "Free Press" would not let go... Bush (43) was less than average in his final 2 years with the Air National Guard... Did that story require Forged Documents Miss Mapes (D)?... Mr. Rather (D)?... Mr. Lockhart (D)?... Was it that important to create a Perception that Bush (43) might have had favors done to get into the ANG over 30 YEARS AGO?... Does anyone doubt that Kerry's entry into the Navy during the Nam, and his assignment to non-Combat Swift Boats (at the time), was not the product of Kennedy Family strings getting pulled?... Or how about a near record number of medals in 4 months while never staying a night in the hospital for his "injuries", allowing him to come home and start his Political Career in front of the Senate making up stories of Atrocities he later admitted to never witnessing personally?...  That's what I thought!  The Left is incapable of Dealing with the Facts surrounding Kerry's Record, so they Ignore, or Evade them.  For the Record, the Associated Press only Sued Bush (43) for his Records, even after Bush (43) signed a Form 180... To this day, Kerry has not signed a Form 180, but promised Russert (D) 2 weeks ago that he would... Sure he will Tim!  And I am sure you will follow up on it the next time he is on Meet the Cuomo (D) Aide! - tha malcontent)

A Web site, Easongate.com, was created and distributed a petition this week calling on CNN to find a transcript and fire Jordan if he said the military had intentionally killed journalists.

(For the sake of not Molesting their First Amendment Obligations, CNN should release the tape.  Honesty is on the line here, CNN! - tha malcontent)

The Web site had been preparing Friday to post information to help its supporters contact CNN's advertisers. A message posted on the site after Jordan's resignation said its authors were pleased with the outcome but still want a videotape of the economic forum released.

(Release the tape, CNN! - tha malcontent)

"To every reader, commentator, e-mailer and blogger that committed to this cause, thank you," a message on the Web site read. "This is a victory for every soldier who has honorably served this nation. To you we devote this victory."

After several management restructurings at CNN, Jordan actually had no current operational responsibility over network programming. But he was CNN's chief fix-it man overseas, arranging coverage in dangerous or hard-to-reach parts of the world.

(I seem to remember this not being the only time Jordan (D) has said something questionable... Let me see if I can recall it before the end of this story! - tha malcontent)

"I have decided to resign in an effort to prevent CNN from being unfairly tarnished by the controversy over conflicting accounts of my recent remarks regarding the alarming number of journalists killed in Iraq," Jordan said.

"I have devoted my professional life to helping make CNN the most trusted and respected news outlet in the world, and I would never do anything to compromise my work or that of the thousands of talented people it is my honor to work alongside," he said.

(CNN is not "the most trusted and respected news outlet" in America, and that should trouble someone who is only allowed to have it because of the United States Constitution!  Our "Free Press" should not be looking for approval from the World, Mr. Jordan (D)!  It's Ironic that his name is Jordan... He is probably more Concerned with what the people of Jordan think of his Coverage, than what the American People think!  It's that Concern that probably led him to Accusing our Troops of targeting Journalists!  I am sure the Islamists applauded that comment when they heard it! - tha malcontent)

Jordan joined CNN in 1982 as an assistant assignment editor on the national news desk. He has won the Emmy, duPont and Peabody journalism awards.

CNN's global newsgathering infrastructure is chiefly the result of Jordan's work, said Jim Walton, chief of the CNN News Group.

(It's chiefly a result of the Founders Blood, and every Soldier who has followed, to allow the First Amendment to Protect him in his goals of pleasing the World in Spite of our Country and our Constitution that allows it! - tha malcontent)

"Eason's service to CNN and support of the people at every level of our organization is legend," Walton said. "He leaves us with our gratitude, respect and best wishes."

(Honesty in Journalism and Reporting REQUIRES you to release the tape, CNN.  The Fact that you would allow him to "resign", instead of proving his Innocence, speaks VOLUMES to his Guilt regarding the Accusations against him... Nice job!  Who's next? - tha malcontent)
