Muslim congressman weeps at terror hearing

Controversial hearing reignites debate over how to combat homegrown Islamic terrorism Press Mar 10, 2:18 PM EST

WASHINGTON (AP) "Mohammed Salman Hamdani was a fellow American who gave his life for other Americans," Ellison said, his voice trembling. "His life should not be defined as a member of an ethnic group or a member of a religion, but as an American who gave everything for his fellow citizens."

(ap) - Yet Ellison is making issue of his Race and Religion now... Nobody... NOBODY is saying that ALL or even most Muslims are the problem, but this continued denial about Islam playing a part in Terror is going to get more people Killed. Mainstream Islamic Clerics and Governments in the Middle East are actively advocating for Terror in the name of Islam via Jihad. This problem has made it's way to our Soil... And it didn't start on 9/11. Our deliberate and ignorant political correctness in 1993 when KSM and Iraqi Agent, Ramzi Yousef Killed Americans in the first attack on the Towers in NYC played an important role in KSM later finishing the job. It's WAY past due for Muslims to out their Terrorists and denounce Terrorism without hesitation... This is the right thing to do. And if you are affiliated in any way shape or form with Organizations sympathetic to Jihad, plan on getting looked into... It's also the right thing to do... Stop whining Ellison, you are making the Speaker of the House look masculine when he cries. - tha malcontent)

"This committee's approach to violent extremism is contrary to American values and threatens our security," Ellison said. The congressman tried to hide his tears behind his papers and quickly left the room after his remarks.

The senior Democrat in the House, Michigan Representative John Dingell, urged King and the committee to ensure that their investigation would not "blot the good name or the loyalty or raise questions about the decency of Arabs or Muslims or other Americans."

(Dingellberry can take his insinuations and shove them... Bet. - tha malcontent)

King insisted the hearing was the logical response to Obama administration warnings over a very real threat.

Critics have compared the hearing to overly zealous investigations of communism in the 1950s that led to false accusations that destroyed careers.

(And the AP is MORE than happy to regurgitate their Side's comparisons... For free! And while we are digging up the past, AP... How about illustrating your assertion that "false accusations destroyed careers". - tha malcontent)

"There is nothing radical or un-American in holding these hearings," King said Thursday.

Melvin Bledsoe, whose son, Carlos, is charged with killing an Army private at a recruiting station in Little Rock, Ark., testified about his son's conversion to Islam and his isolation from his family.

(I never heard about this Terrorism?... How many Islamists have Killed Americans on our Soil?... This should concern EVERYONE. - tha malcontent)

"Carlos was captured by people best described as hunters," Bledsoe said. "He was manipulated and lied to."

(Were they Mainstream Clerics in the Middle East?... - tha malcontent)

The Obama administration has tried to frame the discussion around radicalization in general, without singling out Muslims. King said that is just political correctness, since al-Qaida is the main threat to the United States.

(Yeah, and it's also difficult to Honestly deny that it is Islam that is repeatedly attacking and Killing Americans on American Soil... - tha malcontent)

Abdirizak Bihi, a Somali American from Minnesota, said his nephew, Burhan, turned radical and left for Somalia to fight with militants. In questions from Rep. Dan Lungren, R-Calif., Bihi said he had been discouraged by mosque leaders from seeking answers about what became of his nephew and others who left for Somalia. The 18-year-old died in Somalia.

(American Muslim Leaders... Did you get that?... - tha malcontent)

"If you do that, you're going to be responsible for the eradication of all mosques and Islamic society in North America," Bihi said, recounting what he was told. "You will have eternal fire and hell."

(What the sympathetic Left doesn't want is for the Truth to get out... Why that is is still unknown and of GREAT concern. - tha malcontent)

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder took a veiled swipe at King on Wednesday, saying the focus by law enforcement was on individuals rather than an entire community because "we don't want to stigmatize, we don't want to alienate entire communities."

(And that's how they Win, Eric. - tha malcontent)

At the White House, spokesman Jay Carney said, "We welcome congressional involvement in this issue."

(You don't have any choice in the matter, Jay... Barry ain't King... Deal. - tha malcontent)

"In the United States, we don't practice guilt by association," Carney added. "We believe Muslim-Americans are part of the solution."

(Really?... I'm certain that the Obama Justice looks at Traditionalist Mormons and Activist Anti-Abortion Christian "groups" that way. Watch and see what they do if Romney gets the nod in 2012. - tha malcontent)

Elsewhere at the Capitol, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper also was scheduled to address the threat of homegrown terrorism Thursday. In his prepared remarks, Clapper says 2010 saw more plots involving homegrown Sunni Muslim extremists ideologically aligned with al-Qaida than in the previous year.

"Key to this trend has been the development of a U.S.-specific narrative that motivates individuals to violence," Clapper's remarks say.

(What Motivates the Islamists... Classic. The answer for these Liberals is that we are too powerful as a Nation and that we are too abusive of other Nations, specifically Muslim Nations... So in that, they are Justified in their Terrorism. Get these hacks talking long enough, and that's EXACTLY what you will get out of them. - tha malcontent)
