Blumenthal: I misspoke about Vietnam service
He calls it a matter of 'a few misplaced words' that were 'unintentional'
Associated Press Writer (Source)
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Democratic Senate
candidate Richard Blumenthal on Tuesday conceded he had "misspoken" in
claiming repeatedly that he served in Vietnam, dismissing the furor as a
matter of "a few misplaced words."
(ap) - "Republican Repeatedly Lies about Serving
in Vietnam"... How the headlines would have read if this were NOT the Party of
the "Free Press" that was busted... Again. I LOVE the Torturing of the
language that the "Free Press" is so willing to allow for one of their own.
This is not unlike when a DemocRAT is busted with a gay prostitute, having a
affair on their Wife with mistresses, knocking one up, or getting hookers
while Prosecuting "criminals" on the Public dime. The "Free Press" will ALWAYS
cover for their own, and this is no different! - tha malcontent)
At a news conference backed by veterans, the popular Connecticut attorney
general and front-runner to replace the retiring Sen. Christopher Dodd said he
meant to say he served "during Vietnam" instead of "in Vietnam." He said the
statements were "totally unintentional" errors that occurred only a few times
out of hundreds of public appearances.
("At a news conference backed by veterans, the
popular Connecticut attorney general and front-runner..." Good Lord, I have to
go take a shower... That was FILTHY! If the AP had ANY Shame! - tha

The brewing campaign crisis erupted after The New York Times reported Monday
that Blumenthal had distorted his military service. The story included quotes
and a video of Blumenthal saying at a 2008 event that he had "served in
Vietnam." It also cited several instances of media reports apparently
uncorrected by Blumenthal that described him as a Vietnam veteran.
(And the main question is this... Why has it
waited until now to be "news"?... - tha malcontent)
Blumenthal underwent six months in Marines boot camp at Parris Island, S.C.,
and served six years in the Marine Reserve, beginning in 1970, none of it
overseas. Before that, Blumenthal got five deferments to avoid going to war
between 1965 and 1970.
(So he's more of a "Draft Dodger" than Dubya?...
Nice. Of course, don't forget that J. Forbes Kerry got a Deferment or two
before getting his non-combat Swift Boat duty via the Kennedy family that
ended up turning combat and then he turned Mr. report myself for injuries that
don't require a nights stay in the Hospital and at least one self-inflicted to
then get him out of Nam in 4 months, but I digress! - tha malcontent)
The furor has raised Republican hopes of taking Dodd's seat and chipping away
at Democrats' Senate majority.
(You do get the sense that the AP is talking
"those Republicans" and "us DemocRATS" in their "objective" reporting, don't
you?... - tha malcontent)
"On a few occasions, I have misspoken about my service and I regret that I
take full responsibility," Blumenthal said. "But I will not allow anyone to
take a few misplaced words and impugn my record of service to our country."
(Really?... What did you and your Party have to
say about Dubya's YEARS of Air National Guard Service again?... That's what I
thought! - tha malcontent)
The Times story noted that Blumenthal spoke repeatedly of suffering the
mistreatment veterans received after returning from Vietnam. At a veterans
event in Shelton, he said, "When we returned from Vietnam, I remember the
taunts, the verbal and even physical abuse we encountered," according to a
2008 Connecticut Post story.
("When WE returned from Vietnam"... Blumenthal is
a Liar and NO amount of excuses from his "Free Press" are going to change this
Fact. - tha malcontent)
The misstatements persisted for years even though Blumenthal is known to pore
over press clips and call reporters to clarify or correct points.
("Misstatements"... Only when it's the AP's
Candidate that's on the chopping block! - tha malcontent)
On Tuesday, he also defended his military record and his commitment to
veterans.
(Hard hitting, AP... You should be proud... There is nothing to indicate
that you have taken sides in this or other "scandals" like when you let Dan
Rather LIE about (43)'s Service using OBVIOUSLY forged documents until he lost
his job over it. You were MORE than willing to parrot that Lie, weren't you.
Like when you yourselves LIED and called Florida for algore before the pan
handle was done Voting and then claiming that was an oversight and and
accident... As was claiming that Dubya couldn't win without Florida after
erroneously giving it to algore!... The Bias in the "Free Press" isn't even
veiled anymore. - tha malcontent)
