Associated Press Writer August 23, 11:05 AM MST
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP)
Republican Sen. John McCain, a staunch
defender of the Iraq war, on Tuesday faulted the Bush administration for
misleading Americans into believing the conflict would be "some kind of day at
the beach."
(ap) - "Some kind of day at the beach" is not
something the Administration said... Having said that, Relatively speaking, the
taking of (2) Countries in 5 years, by a Relatively SMALL numbers of Soldiers,
and an even SMALLER number of Deaths than the last time we took (2) Countries,
which was in WWII, this HAS been "Some kind of day at the beach". We are also
not Ending these (2) Wars by Leveling entire Cities, Civilians and all, as we
did when we put WWII to bed and get our Enemies to stop Fighting. From Dresden
to the Atomic Bomb twice, we are not only NOT in the Bloodiest War in our
Country's History, we are Arguably in the LEAST Bloodiest War. (2) Countries
with about 50 Million People, many of them Armed, were taken with a Relative pin
drop of Soldiers, and done so in Record time, with Minimal Damage and Death to
it's Occupants when compared to previous Wars. This was followed by an almost
Immediate, and Incessant "This is another Vietnam" Campaign by the American Left
and their Cheerleading Squad in the "Free Press". Tom Daschle (D-Former Minority
Leader) started it just months after our Successful War in Afghanistan, and many
DemocRATS started Backbiting the War in Iraq almost Immediately after our
Invasion and their Votes of Yea FOR said Invasion... And they did so,
Specifically Kerry (D-American Traitor during 2 Wars) and Edwards (D-Cosponsor
of the War and Source for Iraq being an "Imminent Threat" before Turning his
Yellow-Spined back on our Troops for Purely Political Reasons), as to Divide
this Country and Gain Power with the Blood of the Soldiers THEY sent to War.
Having said that, John "The Maverick" McCain will say anything he Feels he needs
to Win Elections and get his Fix of Fawning Media Coverage. When he's Supporting
the Administration and the War, Articulately and Forcefully, the "Free Press" is
Vacant of Main Wire stories on it... And I am not Surprised, it's their Standard
and Documented MO. - tha malcontent)
The potential 2008 presidential candidate, who a day earlier had rejected calls
for withdrawing U.S. forces, said the administration had failed to make clear
the challenges facing the military.
(The story that the AP doesn't want to Headline...
"McCain Rejects Calls to Cut and Run in Iraq". - tha malcontent)
"I think one of the biggest mistakes we made was underestimating the size of the
task and the sacrifices that would be required," McCain said. "Stuff happens,
mission accomplished, last throes, a few dead-enders. I'm just more familiar
with those statements than anyone else because it grieves me so much that we had
not told the American people how tough and difficult this task would be."
(Actually John, the President told the American
People during one of his SOTU's that this War would most likely outlast his
Presidency... And this War is not just Afghanistan and Iraq. - tha malcontent)
Those phrases are closely associated with top members of the Bush
administration, including the president.
(Well, if the AP, it's Children and the American
Left spent as much time Supporting this War from day one, as they have
Sympathizing with our Enemy, Polling the American People to not Support this
War, and calling our Soldiers "Nazis" and "Terrorists", maybe our Enemy would
not have been Emboldened and would have been in their "last throes" at the time
that Statement was made... But we will never Know, because the Left's Politics
matter more than our Soldiers Lives and Mission. - tha malcontent)
Bush stood below a banner proclaiming "Mission Accomplished" on May 1, 2003
after the collapse of Saddam Hussein's regime. The war has continued since then,
with the death of more than 2,600 members of the U.S. military. Vice President
Dick Cheney said last year that the Iraqi insurgency was "in its final throes."
(PRESIDENT Bush stood in front of a Banner
Symbolizing that Ships record long Mission at Sea's END, thank you very much.
And the Mission of taking Iraq WAS, in FACT, Accomplished, and to this day the
VAST MAJORITY of the 26 million Citizens of Iraq are not at War with us. The
handful of Terrorists and remaining Bathists who use the American "Free Press"
to make their scattered Attacks appear to an Insurmountable Force that we can
never Defeat, are not what the "Free Press" paints them to be. tha malcontent)
The Arizona senator said that talk "has contributed enormously to the
frustration that Americans feel today because they were led to believe this
could be some kind of day at the beach, which many of us fully understood from
the beginning would be a very, very difficult undertaking."
(And the President said it would be Difficult...
Where is this "Day at the Beach" quote, Senator?... AP?... - tha malcontent)
McCain was campaigning for Republican Sen. Mike DeWine, who faces a tough fight
in his re-election bid against Democratic challenger Rep. Sherrod Brown. Ohio
was decisive in the 2004 presidential election, ensuring Bush's win, and is
certain to be critical in 2008.
Senate Democrats, meanwhile, said Tuesday that the best way to encourage Iraqis
to get their political house in order is to begin a phased withdrawal from Iraq
by the end of this year. Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan, top Democrat on the Armed
Services Committee, said the longer the U.S. stays the course in Iraq, "the
weaker we're going to be in the war on terrorism."
(Notice the Left's "reasoning" for Pulling Out is
Explained, but the Right's, Specifically the person that this story is Based on,
is Conveniently Absent to this point. - tha malcontent)
Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he was glad to hear McCain has realized
"we need more than tough talk" on Iraq.
(If only McCain could get past Himself and Realize
that when he's Badmouthing the Administration for Political Reasons, that his
Adversaries on the Left Capitalize on it. - tha malcontent)
"It's time we win the war on terror," said Reid. "To do that we must change the
course in Iraq."
(Empty Rhetoric from a Useless Politician... Let me
Know when you have a Plan, (s)enator. - tha malcontent)
On Monday, McCain said at an appearance in suburban Cleveland that if U.S.
troops announce a specific date to leave Iraq, insurgents will bide their time
until they have an opportunity to act without interference.
(FINALLY!... At the end, way past the Average
American's Attention Span, and clearly what this Story should have been about,
and the Headline should have Reflected, we get the Rational Explanation of
Cutting and Running is as Ignorant as it is Dangerous. - tha malcontent)
"The chaos that would ensue would have direct implications for our national
security," McCain said.
(Of course... And the Left doesn't get this Fact.
The one's that will Address it make the Idiotic Claim that Bush (43) Created
that Threat by Liberating Iraq and taking the War to the Middle East... The
Ignorance of that Claim is as Self-evident as Bush (43)s LACK of Warring
Against Terrorists on September 10th led to the 11th and is the Primary Reason
we were Attacked Inaction Against this Worldwide, Borderless Threat is what
brought us the 11th, NOT the Opposite. - tha malcontent)
DeWine said Congress would not have had the chance to authorize the war if the
intelligence on Iraq's military capability and intentions were accurate.
(They were Accurate, (D)eWhiner... And Agreed with
by the UN, France and Germany. The Fact that WMD and Banned Long Range Missiles
that the UN DOCUMENTED IN 109 FACILITIES are MISSING, does not mean they never
Existed. As to the Terror Threat from Saddam's Iraq... Saddam Funded, Harbored
and Instigated Terrorism, and now he sits in a Cell, and he and his Bastard Sons
are not Raping and Murdering the People of Iraq. - tha malcontent)
"It would never have come up for a vote so it would have been an entirely
different situation," he said.
(You mean if the Facts were Ignored?... Idiocy. The
Village Idiot (Dubya) Duped the DemocRAT Party into Sacrificing American
Lives One hell of an Excuse DemocRATS And Honest people arent Buying it. If
John Edwards (D) was running around Personally calling Saddam an Imminent
Threat, and a larger Threat than North Korea, simply because Dubya said so,
then he and the other DemocRATS who did the same should Resign based on
Incompetence alone Oh, wait Pony Boy isnt an Elected Official any longer, is
he? Classic. - tha malcontent)
