Nearly 1.4 Million More in Poverty

By GENARO C. ARMAS (Direct descendent of Karl Marx! - tha malcontent)
Associated Press Writer Sept 4, 01:51 AM EDT

WASHINGTON
(AP) The nation's rocky economy sent 1.4 million more people into poverty last year, a Census Bureau survey found. Nearly half of the newly impoverished were children.

(ap) - If the AP were Honest, and we know by the examples that I have given over the last 3 years, that they are not, they would have titled this: "Relative Poverty not as Bad as Expected".  When we Americans use the word "Poverty", it is usually more for political gain, than as an Honest appraisal of the Living conditions of ANY American, as compared to the Real Poverty that Billions around this little speck in the Universe, suffer in every day of their Lives.  America's poor wear gold chains and have Sega systems while eating prepared food from a chain store after getting the LQ for the evening... On someone else's dime, by the way!  The subject of "Poverty" in America, is an issue that so illustrates the Dishonesty of the Left, that I am drawn to it every time one of these Guilty White Liberals in the "Free Press" attempts to make it a political weapon against the Party they did not vote for.  And this specific author may not be White, but I am sure his Marxist Editor is!  If you were paying any attention from January 1993, to January 2001, you would have believed, Ignorantly, that Clinton "cured" Poverty in America just by putting his hand on the Bible and Lying to every single American when he took the oath, and that Poverty only reared it's ugly little head shortly after Bush (43) took his oath.  I covered the "Free Press" coverage in this regard, shortly after Inauguration in 2001, compared with their coverage shortly before, when Clinton was running this Country perfectly, as far as the "Free Press" was concerned, of course, and the Dishonest bias, in favor of the guy they voted for, is undeniable.  Suddenly, in late January 2001, the "Free Press" realized that we were in a year long slowdown, and then during Clinton's final budget, we actually went into Recession... But the "Free Press" has yet to paint those Historical events in such an Honest way!  That is because the majority of them vote with a (D), and it shows in their "reporting" on daily basis!  Anyway, let's get on with this DNC Talking Point, masquerading as a legitimate Wire copy, shall we! - tha malcontent)

Roughly 17.2 percent of children, or 12.2 million, lived in poverty in 2002, up from 16.4 percent, or over 11.5 million, in 2001, according to the American Community Survey results released Wednesday.

(The simple explanation for why there are more "children" in relative poverty in America, is that poor people will not learn to use Birth Control, or even Self Control.  Lord knows that Planned Parenthood's primary answer is, "have another Abortion on someone else's dime!", so why even concern your poor self with all that "control" stuff anyway, right?  And hell, each "Dependent" gets ya some more Benjamins from someone else's wallet, don't it! I personally know a Meth-head, on Gubmn't assistance, who has had 4 kids taken from her because she is a Selfish, inhumane piece of filth, and her "stud" is even a worse example of our species.  This, of course, is only one personal example, take a trip down to your local "aid" office, and watch the symphony of filth that is on display there every single day!  That would be the thing that the Guilty White Liberals, who control what you are allowed to ingest in regard to information, do not want you to know about your Dependents, that the DemocRAT Party have been Farming, on their New Slave Plantations, for the previous 5 decades or so!  And my saying that, even though I am talking about ALL races, is "Racist", according to the very Slavemasters who subscribe to the modern day Marxism, that is the American DemocRAT in 2003! - tha malcontent)

Overall, 12.4 percent of the population, or nearly 34.8 million people, lived in poverty in 2002, up from 12.1 percent, or 33.4 million, the previous year.

(The DemocRAT/"Free Press" answer, in the form of veiled, and not so veiled insinuation, is that Bush (43)'s economy is doing this to these people.  This is also known as "the BIG Lie". - tha malcontent)

Median household income rose by $51, when accounting for inflation, to $43,057 after a similarly slight drop the previous year, when the nation was in recession from March to November. Median income refers to the point at which half of households earn more and half earn less.

(AP: "...when the nation was in recession from March to November."... I actually know people who deny that this Recession happened, 40 short days after Clinton Left office, and during his final budget, but if you do the math, and dig into the time frame that the "Free Press" is attempting to shield Clinton from in this story, they are referring to the year 2001, and the yearlong slowdown that led to the Recession, began in March of 2000.  By election 2000, the economy was at Zero growth, and they deliberately denied you that information before you entered the booth to cast your vote, because they new it would hurt Algore's chances! - tha malcontent)

The increases in poverty in 2002 were ``not out of the ordinary'' for a recession, and less severe than expected, said Sheldon Danzinger, co-director of the National Poverty Center at the University of Michigan.

(So why do I feel differently based on the title, and the opening rant of this Wire story?... Oh, that's right, because the AP is attempting to paint a more negative perception, due to the Fact that they enjoy any opportunity to do political damage to the current President, for whom, they did not vote.  And just like most of you are not reading my retort of the AP to this point, most people do no more than read headlines, or hear them regurgitated by Dan Rather (D) nightly, so they never heard, nor read this positive aspect of this story. - tha malcontent)

``Results of the surveys have been consistent with what one would expect during a down economic period,'' said Chuck Nelson, who helps oversee income and poverty statistics for the Census Bureau.

But Robert Greenstein, executive director of the liberal-leaning Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, blamed the increase in poverty on rising unemployment and the government's failure to promote more child tax credits for low-income families and stronger unemployment insurance.

("Liberal-leaning"... Someone is getting reprimanded by his AP Editor right now! - tha malcontent)

``People at the bottom tend to live paycheck to paycheck,'' Greenstein said. ``This underscores that in trying to stimulate the economy, we should probably be doing more to assist low-income working families affected by the downturn.''

The poverty threshold differs by the size and makeup of a household. For instance, a person under 65 living alone in 2002 was considered in poverty if income was $9,359 or less; for a household of three including one child, it was $14,480.

(Why do poor people reproduce that which they cannot afford to support?... Oh yeah, because the DemocRATS steal my money and make it affordable for them to do so, that's why! - tha malcontent)

Robert Rector of the conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation, said welfare reform helped keep more single mothers in the labor force than in previous economic downturns, and therefore, out of poverty.

``So now coming out of the recession, in terms of child poverty, it's a very optimistic picture,'' Rector said. ``In terms of the population overall, it looks like an ordinary recession."

(Wow, this is not the norm for the AP, they have actually given voice to both sides... Too bad that no one read this far, and that Dan Rather (D) will not quote Mr. Rector on the evening news!  It's also just a measly 2 paragraphs out of how many? - tha malcontent)

The American Community Survey is a questionnaire being tested by the Census Bureau as a possible yearly replacement for the 53-question ``long form'' sent out at the start of each decade.

(So this is really just a "poll" of sorts?... I am sure there is no room for politics in this process! - tha malcontent)

The new survey covers about 62,000 households each month nationwide. The bureau arrives at annual estimates by averaging survey results for each of the 12 months in a year.

The official government statistics on income and poverty come from a separate, more comprehensive survey that tracks economic status typically released in late September.

(Don't worry about hearing about the "real" numbers, if they are better than this report, the "Free Press" will bury them immediately! - tha malcontent)

But Nelson said American Community Survey results still provide a glimpse into overall economic and demographic trends in the United States.

Among some other findings:

About 6.8 million households in 2002 received food stamps, up from 6.4 million in 2001.

(And how many of those households had at least one, if not a number of able bodied adults who could get jobs, even if it is MacDonald's? - tha malcontent)

The number of people employed in the manufacturing industry dropped by almost 5 percent, or 830,000, to under 17.1 million. There were also slight decreases in the retail trade, information, and transportation and warehousing industries.

(The most current official numbers do not reflect this "poll"... I wonder why? - tha malcontent)

There was roughly a 4 percent rise in the number of people working in the fields of education, health or social services to nearly 27.1 million. An increase was also seen in the arts, entertainment, recreation, accommodation and food services category.

(The Wife is part of that 4 percent!  Gubmn't jobs is the good ones!  In a couple of years, the Cracker you love to hate, should be able to partially retire... At 35 or 40 maybe!  Bust ass early in Life, and take it easy the second half... That's my plan.  Anyway, people in this country are poor, and dark skinned, because I am a Racist White person who has stacks of greenbacks shipped to his house every month by "The Man".  Does that about sum it up for you who subscribe to the Left's Lies?  Gotta go now, must try to make it through another day in the Hell that Bush (43) has burdened us with... - tha malcontent)
