Comparing AP Coverage of Candidates Economic Plans
UPDATED... A Liberal Assisted me in getting MORE Dirt on the AP:
"With the economic turmoil weighing down his Republican presidential rival,
Obama also proposed allowing people to withdraw up to $10,000 from their
retirement accounts without any penalty this year and next."
It's too Bad the AP wasn't Headlining
this Version when I Took those Stories... It would've only Assisted my Overall
Point that much MORE... Thanks for the Link, Jimmy... You just Helped Mean Old
Mal Hammer the "Free Press" a little more...
"His call for action comes just two days before the final debate of the
presidential race and at a time when McCain is sending mixed signals about how
he'll address the economy."
Classic Stuff, Jimmy!... Did you even Read this
More from the Extended AP Story:
"Obama's plan calls for raising taxes only on the 5 percent of people who
make more than $250,000 a year. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center found that
under Obama's approach the wealthiest 1 percent of taxpayers would see their
taxes go up on average by $93,709 in 2009, For McCain, those same wealthy
taxpayers would see an average reduction of $48,860."
Top Story @ the Urban Institute:
Gas Prices Pinch Working Poor Hardest
The latest presidential debate confirms that tight family budgets remain a
top concern for Americans. An Urban Institute analysis reveals that steep fuel
costs are especially burdensome for the working poor. Despite having shorter
average drives to work, commuters who live in poverty spend a greater share of
their income commuting than their high-income counterparts do.
And then the other Half of "The nonpartisan Tax
Policy Center", as the AP calls them:

The presidential candidate says banks that participate in the federal bailout
should temporarily postpone foreclosures for families making good-faith efforts
to pay their mortgage.
He also called for a $3,000 tax credit for each additional full-time job a
business creates. The tax break would end after 2010.
Obama also is proposing letting people withdraw up to $10,000 from their
retirement accounts without any penalty this year and next.
The Obama campaign emphasizes that these ideas can be done quickly, either
through executive order or legislation.

BLUE BELL, Pa. (AP) — Republican John
McCain says he would order the Treasury Department to guarantee 100 percent of
all savings for the next six months as president.
(ap) - Well,
from the Title to the First Paragraph we see that Barry would "Offer", and
McMaverick would "Order"... And of course there is no Flowery Qualifications for

That provision is part of a $52.5 billion plan the presidential candidate laid

McCain told a suburban Philadelphia audience that "the moment requires that
government act. And as president I intend to act, quickly and decisively."
McCain also says he would eliminate taxes on unemployment benefits and reduce
taxes on capital gains, individual retirement accounts and 401(k)s.
McCain said President Bush's $250 billion plan to buy shares in the nation's
leading banks should be short-term and last only until the institutions are

U.S. voters go to the polls in three weeks amid the worst economic uncertainty
to grip the country in decades. Retirement savings are at risk in the gyrating

unemployment has been moving relentlessly upward.

McCain's candidacy has slumped under the weight of growing voter anxiety about
the country's economic future, in part because of his inescapable links with
unpopular fellow Republican President George W. Bush.

Under criticism from fellow Republicans, McCain reset his campaign strategy yet
again with a new stump speech Monday that eased back on harsh attacks against
Obama while at the same time delivering some of his toughest criticism so far of

Pending the rollout of fresh proposals on Tuesday, the veteran Arizona senator
renewed pledges to cut taxes, freeze federal spending, renegotiate distressed
mortgages to help middle-class homeowners. He also vowed to bring more

In his final campaign appearance before the debate, Obama told voters in Toledo,
Ohio, a struggling working-class city in a state that could be critical to
Obama's presidential hopes, that his new proposals could be enacted quickly,
either through the government's regulatory powers or legislation that Congress
could pass in a special session after the election. He put the cost at $60
