Fatal Beating of Man in Custody Probed

CINCINNATI (
AP) A 350-pound black man died after being clubbed repeatedly by officers in a videotaped beating that raised new allegations of police brutality against blacks in Cincinnati nearly three years after the city was rocked by riots.

(ap) - The Associated Press, along with all of it's loyal children in the "Free Press", who feed at it's teat on a regular basis, are only focusing on "the beating" aspect of this video, as opposed to the entire video, and what transpired, as they did with Rodney King.  "Fatal Beating of Man in Custody Probed", is a headline that so defies Honesty on the part of the AP, considering the Factual evidence we all have seen, that I am really surprised that they would post this headline, even with their Left of Center track record in the past on these types of issues.  Let's break it down... According to the video, and I have seen it multiple times, a very large, and aggressive Black man is approaching an officer in a parking lot who has his hands up, no weapon in hand, at the man, as the man taunts him with "white boy" and "red neck", and then attacks the officer.  This happens within 2 minutes of the officers arriving on seen.  The attacked officer and the another officer then wrestle with the man, taking multiple shots at him with their night sticks.  The AP assumes in their headline, that this Black man's cause of death was the beating.   They also make the patently FALSE claim that this man was "in Custody".  Anyone who has seen this video, knows, that this man was the furthest thing from "in Custody", as this "beating" took place.  The more accurate, and Honest headline would have been, "Man Dies after Police Beating that was Sparked by Attack on Police".  The Left cares not "who started it", in these instances, or in debate, especially if it makes "their side" look the guilty party, if "who started" it is established.  The same can be said for their tactics in the political realm.  The 9 Jackasses a Braying have been attacking the President for months and months now, and any time that the President or his people "defend" themselves, the media equates their non-attacking defense, with the original DemocRAT attack, and then forgets about the DemocRATS attack, instead, focusing on how "politicized" the President has become.  Who starts what, DOES matter.  In this newest installment of "Nothing but a G-thang AP", the AP has shown once again, that who starts it, is as meaningless to them as the Truth and the Facts are in their reporting.  It's good to come back from Vacation and have a gem like this served up by the AP for me! - tha malcontent)

The mayor said Monday that the videotape showed that the nightstick-wielding officers were defending themselves.

(Well Mayor, the AP only sees a the "deadly beating of a Black man".  The only thing missing from this coverage by the AP, is "White Officers", over and over and over again. - tha malcontent)

The cause of Nathaniel Jones' death on Sunday was under investigation. But preliminary autopsy results showed that the 41-year-old man had an enlarged heart, and his blood contained cocaine and PCP, or "angel dust," both of which can cause bizarre or aggressive behavior, Hamilton County Coroner Carl Parrott said.

(It was not his grotesque obesity, his drug use, or his enlarged heart that killed him.  It was not even his initial attack on the Police.  No, it was "the beating", wasn't AP? - tha malcontent)

Two black community activists said Jones' death was another example of brutality by Cincinnati police. The fatal shooting of an unarmed black man by a white officer in April 2001 set off three nights of rioting, but the streets were quiet Monday in the area where those riots were centered.

(Was the "unarmed Black man" who was shot by the "White officer", doing ANYTHING wrong AP?  Did an Officer of the Law, just randomly gun down and entirely innocent, Law abiding citizen?... Of course not!  The question is, why is the AP neglecting to expand on their analogy?  The answer is, because the conclusion negates their Agenda.   The original, racially drive hype, is what they want continued, from story to story. - tha malcontent)

"How many of our people have to die before the city decides to do something about it?" said Nathaniel Livingston Jr. of the Coalition for a Just Cincinnati.

(It will take as many as is necessary, Nate!  How many of your people are going to die before respect for Law and order, and respect for one's self, and one's responsibilities are going to be what you are calling for from "your people"? - tha malcontent)

The videotape from a police cruiser's camera showed two white police officers landing at least a dozen blows with their nightsticks on Jones and tackling him, while shouting at him to put his hands behind his back. But the tape also showed Jones lunging at one of the officers.

(At what point in time is the AP going to focus on the "white boy" and "red neck" verbal attacks by this Black man, that were followed by his initial attack on the officer?  Who starts what, matters. - tha malcontent)

The officers who were at the scene - five whites and one black - were placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

(The AP is pissed that the Black officer was on the scene.  It keeps them from saying "4 White Officers", over and over and over and over again.  Maybe they can get him to turn on his Brothers in Blue. - tha malcontent)

After seeing the video, Mayor Charlie Luken rejected activists' demand that he force Police Chief Thomas Streicher Jr. to resign.

"What I saw was a 400-pound man violently attacking a police officer in a manner that put the lives of police officers at risk," Luken said. "While the investigations will continue, there is nothing on those tapes to suggest that the police did anything wrong."

(Well Mayor, what Honest people saw was exactly the same thing... The AP is not staffed with Honest people though.  Otherwise, they would not be festering this situation, in the hopes of covering it further. - tha malcontent)

The Rev. Jesse Jackson issued a statement Monday saying he wants state and federal authorities to investigate.

(Who cares what Je$$e has to say?  How about asking Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson what he thinks for once, AP? - tha malcontent)

"Police officers have options available to immobilize citizens short of death," Jackson said.

(SIT DOWN, and SHUT UP! - tha malcontent)

Justice Department spokesman Jorge Martinez said Monday night: "We're in the process of gathering information and evidence to determine whether any federal action is warranted."

An employee at a fast-food restaurant had called 911 early Sunday to report that a man had passed out on the grass outside. Emergency personnel arrived and reported that the man was awake and "becoming a nuisance," according to police radio transmissions.

(Again, who starts what, matters. - tha malcontent)

The first two officers to arrive, Baron Osterman and James Pike, were shown on the video striking Jones after he ignored orders to "stay back," took a swing at an officer and put his arm around an officer's neck.

(AP, did you not hear the audio, in which this Black man racially taunted the Officer as he approached, and then attacked? - tha malcontent)

Jones then fell forward onto the officer as the two momentarily went out of the camera's field of view.

The officers knocked Jones to the ground and fell on him, and jabbed or struck him with nightsticks at least a dozen times over several minutes until he was handcuffed. They kept yelling, "Put your hands behind your back!" as they struggled to handcuff him.

Additional police officers arrived. They rolled Jones onto his back and one officer was heard saying: "He's still got a pulse. I don't see him breathing."

(That's because he is nearly 400 pounds, a drug user, and in a physical altercation, that he himself instigated, with other men.  He's dead because of Choices that he made, end of list. - tha malcontent)

Officers called for an ambulance. He died within minutes of arriving at the hospital, Assistant Chief Richard Janke said.

The Cincinnati chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People called for changes in police use of force.

(The (N)ational (A)ssociation (A)gainst (C)aucasian (P)eople, is nothing more than a tool for Black Racists.  They are a polite, Black KKK. - tha malcontent)

"If proper procedure means that you can use that kind of force to clobber people repeatedly who are clearly disarmed, then there's something wrong with the policy," said Calvert Smith, chapter president.

(Again, who starts what, matters.  Had this man not instigated this situation by taunting, and physically attacking the police, he would still be alive today. - tha malcontent)

Black activist groups staged an economic boycott of Cincinnati after the 2001 shooting of Timothy Thomas, 19, who was wanted on charges of fleeing police. Officer Stephen Roach shot him in a dark alley and was later cleared at trial of criminal charges.

(Well... I guest this man was NOT "innocent", was he AP.  It would have helped to have included this information earlier, when you were attempting to draw an analogy from this current Notorious BIG situation, to that earlier, unfortunate police shooting.  I wonder why the AP Left this Factual information out until the end of this story, that almost no one has finished? - tha malcontent)

A federal investigation of that shooting, requested by the city, resulted in a 2002 agreement by the city to tighten policies regarding use of force and to improve handling of citizen complaints against the police.

Last February, a white officer chased and fatally shot a black man who was spotted running from a store that had been broken into. Police, prosecutors and a citizen review panel concluded the shooting was justified because the suspect was beating the officer with his nightstick.

(Is that Citizen Review Panel, mostly Black?  Why is the conclusion of this killing being "Just", not the focus, as the killing was?  The AP does this kind of thing, along with it's minions in the "Free Press", for a number of reasons... The first, is White Liberal Guilt.  The second, is to help forward the Left's political Agenda, in the hopes of gaining more Power next November, and every other November.  Us against them.  White against Black.  Liberal against Conservative.  Just because they are not Honest enough to say it directly, this is exactly what the Left in the "Free Press" is saying almost daily. - tha malcontent)
