Lets Compare Lott/Thurmond (R) to Dodd/Byrd (D)

(ap) - First, lets look at what the Free Press made out to be one of the most Controversial Statements ever made in Modern American Politics, so much so, that the AP had a Wire Story on it everyday for (2) weeks straight:

Senator Trent Lott (R) @ a 100th Birthday Party Roasting of Strom Thurmond: "I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either."

Strom Thurmond was never a Member of the KKK, but did happen to beat Robert Byrd (D-KKK) out for the longest Filibuster in History when they both spent over 10 hours each Standing Against Civil Rights for Blacks as Senators in the United States Congress in 1964.

In his Career, prior to the 70s, Thurmond was most Definitely a Racist, Segregationist Bigot, although he Fathered an Illegitimate Black Child in 1925 to a Girl who many in Close Contact Agree, Strom had a Special Affection for.

Now lets look at Comparable Praise of Byrd (D-KKK) by Senator Dodd (D), but this Praise was On the Record and from the Senate Floor, not at a 100th Birthday Roast:

Senator Chris Dodd (D): "It has often been said that the man and the moment come together. I do not think it is an exaggeration at all to say to my friend from West Virginia that he would have been a great Senator at any moment. Some were right for the time. Robert C. Byrd, in my view, would have been right at any time. He would have been right at the founding of this country. He would have been in the leadership crafting this Constitution. He would have been right during the great conflict of civil war in this Nation. He would have been right at the great moments of international threat we faced in the 20th century. I cannot think of a single moment in this Nation's 220-plus year history where he would not have been a valuable asset to this country. Certainly today that is not any less true."

A little History about the Senior DemocRAT in the Senate from West Virginia, and who the Free Press Lovingly Refers to as The Conscience of the Senate

Byrd (D-KKK) Avoided Fighting in WWII, instead he was here @ Home Recruiting, and very well I might add, new Members for the KKK starting in his mid-20's.

Byrd Claims it was the Folly of Youth, his Membership in the KKK, but is almost 30 years of Age still Excused by "Youth"?...

A Handwritten Letter to the KKK Imperial Wizard in 1946, after Byrd Claims to have Left the KKK:  "The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia."

But let's Fast Forward to this Millennium, shall we... 2001 to be exact:

"I think we talk about race too much. I think those problems are largely behind us ... I just think we talk so much about it that we help to create somewhat of an illusion. I think we try to have good will. My old mom told me, 'Robert, you can't go to heaven if you hate anybody.' We practice that. There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time. I'm going to use that word. We just need to work together to make our country a better country, and I'd just as soon quit talking about it so much."

A side note, Byrd's Dear Old Mom was Married to a KKK Member... Apparently the KKK isn't a Hate Group according to the Byrd Klan.

To the Topic, Byrd was Stating as a matter of Fact, that there are Niggers... He wanted to Clarify that not only are their Black Niggers, but to many People's Surprise, Apparently there are also White Niggers.

This was in 2001... Not 1946.

This was on a Nationally Televised Political Program in his Official Capacity, not @ a Birthday Roast, nor was it back during his Glorious Days as an Effective Recruiter for the Ku Klux Klan.

Hell, in the 40's he used "Negro"... One would Assume that he's become More Racist, not Less if hes now tossin around Nigger in Official Interviews when Referring to other Human Beings.

He Simply Veils it better now, and sometimes let's it all Slip out.

Now, why was there almost no Outrage about Byrds (D-KKK) White Niggers Comment in his Official Capacity in 2001, either by Elected Officials, Black Organizations or the Free Press, but Lotts (R) Roasting Comments at Stroms 100th Birthday, which had no Specific Reference to DixiecRATS or Segregation Sparked weeks of Controversy from the Free Press?

Combine that with a much more Specific Praise of Byrd (D-KKK) by Dodd (D) from the Senate Floor, but in the same manner as Lott meant it, and again you have almost no Outrage or even Coverage of the Comments, which were Arguably more Specific than Lotts

The simple Answer is that the Outrage over Lotts Comments were made into a Controversy by the very Free Press that all but Ignored Byrds (D-KKK) Obviously Racist, There are White Niggers Circa 2001, and Dodds Praise of the Former KKK Grand Kleagle from the Senate Floor as Plausibly right during the great conflict of civil war in this Nation., and Dodd could not, think of a single moment in this Nation's 220-plus year history where he would not have been a valuable asset to this country., is Reflective of their Blatant Bias to their own Party, regardless of how Ridiculous or Patently Racist the Offense is that they are Ignoring.

Bias Illustrated.
