Then why did Jesus turn Water into Wine?

(ap) - Think about it, Jesus could have turned that water into ANYTHING, including some fine orange juice which would have given those people extra protection from the cold and flu season that was approaching, but he chose Wine.

This concept was the basis for an essay I wrote at a Baptist Academy that I went to back in the 80s.  Some of its students, myself included, were caught at a house party with a little too much to drink in us, as the youth of that day were known to do.

Because of this incident, we were mandated to write essays about the ills of alcohol using the Bible as the source. I chose to write one about the Bibles positive views of the juice of Life instead. Needless to say, I was not very popular with many who where employed at this particular institution, and this was just one of the many incidents that insured that status until my departure in the 10th grade.

So why did Jesus choose Wine?  Well, for those who dont know the story, it was a party Literally.  They ran out of Wine, and Jesus replaced water with Wine for the Wedding party.

And Jesus was no slouch when it came to winemaking either, just listen to the Master of the Banquet on Christs Exclusive Batch: "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.

Dont tell me that Wine was non-alcoholic, as I was told after my essay was reviewed.  Only someone with reading comprehension issues or a need for a false narrative regarding the Scripture would conclude that from the Book of John.

But as with anything else, gluttony is a Sin, and if anything controls your Life, it is Sin. Ephesians 5:18 -- "And be not drunk with Wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;".  The qualification in that Scripture is not that you shouldnt drink Wine, but that you shouldnt be drunk with it.

Obviously we were all drunk with Wine the night of that party, and many who took part were adversely affected, including the (2) sleeping next to the toilet I wont mention names as that the Statute of Limitations has surely run out regarding prosecuting them.  If memory serves me, one of them IS in Jail Maybe theres something to this staying away from strong drink concept after all!

Joking aside, any number of things that can control you and adversely affect your Life are Sin Alcohol is just one in a very long list.  So think about that and have a drink on me! And thanks for playing along on this journey down Memory Lane.

Next one will be about "The Spatula Night" < It will have an (R) Rating...
