ap Reports from the Denver "Tea Party"

(ap) - We got there almost 2 hours early. There were already about 2000 people gathering. There were a few people that came out during the 11 o'clock hour and started to get the crowd fired up. One thing they said was that the Colorado State government could hear us every time we cheered or booed. This was confirmed by my wife who works two blocks away. More on this later.

It was cool. A lot of great signs, one man dressed up as Lincoln (anti abortionist), there was a stilted Uncle Sam, an Arab who wanted us to STOP drilling, and a truck with a traveling billboard decrying abortion. (yes, the anti abortionists were out in force)

We started the rally by stating The Pledge of Allegiance. It was absolutely amazing. Seemed like everyone there knew it by heart. Funny that. AND the "Under God" part was especially loud.

Then we sang the National Anthem. With great pride. Speakers like Gunny Bob and Mike Kaufman(sp) got the crowd fired up against this current fiscal crisis the U.S. government is causing. That is when I started walking that great sign around the Capitol grounds.

The comments I got were great. At least 200 people took pictures of it, and about 15 or 20 times I was told it was the best sign at the rally. We were on the steps for a while. Walked through the crowd. Hung out on the "grassy knoll". And encouraged drivers passing by to show their support.

I am not sure who was taking pictures around there. We saw many people with press passes so you could tell who they were. But there were people there that had professional equipment and acted like the were working rather than enjoying a hobby. I don't know who they were there representing but every time a camera like that asked for a pic, I proudly stood with the sign. I haven't had the Secret Service here yet so maybe the paranoia I had was a little unjustified.

There was very little Police presence. We saw the DPD deal with a couple of different situations. One was a pro abortionist (no, if you want abortion you are not pro choice) attacking the very calm anti abortionists. Was kind of funny. Every time they would come back with a calm rational argument that poor girl got a little more upset. At one time she actually walked away flipping us all off and complaining about "rich white people". That was a little weird. There was a Mexican woman and what appeared to be a family from the Middle East standing next to me. When she came back she had a couple of thugs with her to help yell. That was when 5-0 jumped into action. Took those 4 officers about 5 minutes to get that lil white girl (yes white) to walk away.

The other incident we saw involved some 911 truthers. Seriously boys and girls, this is America. If you have something to say, take the kerchief off your ugly faces. If you believe it, stand up and be proud. If you have to cover your face, perhaps you are wrong. But all in all it was a peaceful show of America. A little different than our liberal American brethren. Now back to the noise the legislators inside could hear. Yesterday afternoon the Democrats that run the place announced they are not going to go through with some terrible ideas they had to raise funds including raping the PRIVATE worker comp program.

All in all it was a good day. I heard one of the organizers talking about the first one. It was only 300 people strong. Yesterday about 5000. July 4th when we do this again...??? See ya there. Peace
